What’s better than one romance novel? Try an entire series! Here’s three young adult romance series that are oozing with sweet-and-cute vibes, without all the “other” stuff. No violence. No f-bomb dropping. No scenes to skip.
These series aren’t afraid to address real life issues, though, which I appreciate.
Edenvale Arts Academy #2 by Liwen Y. Ho
From Goodreads: The Edenvale Arts Academy series brings you the sweetness and innocence of young love amidst a backdrop of the performing arts. Combining creativity and romance, this YA series is perfect for fans of swoony kisses and sigh-worthy happy ever afters.
I’ve read the first two in the series. I’m a sucker for stories set in the theater world! All the titles are plays on famous romcom titles, which is cute. Liwen Y. Ho doesn’t shie away from serious issues, but she handles things like foster care, financial woes, and a parent in prison with a light touch. So those aspects are there but they don’t weigh down the sweetness of the story.
This is a spin-off series from her popular Sparks series of clean adult romances.
My Favorite Color by Eva Austin
Light-hearted, dual point of view (my favorite!), and a charming small town beside a lake where the characters are surrounded by a lovely supportive cast. According to Eva Austin’s website, the fourth book is on its way, too, so I have something to look forward to in 2027.
I really enjoy Austin’s writing. (I was literally taking notes, if that tells you anything.) She has a lovely way with words and I thoroughly enjoyed reading her stories.
Love in Ocean Groves by Anna Catherine Field
From Goodreads: Six heart-pounding, toe-curling, swoony, sweep you off your feet crushes. In Ocean Grove, a small town nestled by the Pacific, six couples struggle with family, friendship, and love.
My favorite of these is Olivia and the Older Boy. (If age gap romances trouble you, don’t worry. The “older boy” is only two years older, a long-time family friend, and the heroine is 17 to the hero’s 19.) Olivia struggles with bipolar disorder and Ben struggles to know how to help her.
As someone who has a milder form of bipolar disorder, I could identify with Olivia’s struggles. I appreciated that Anna Catherine Field included a realistic HEA, with medication compliance and a group mentality for her ongoing treatment as both her family, Ben, and a mental health counselor (along with a good doctor) team up to support Olivia.
I haven’t been able to find any newer work from Anna Catherine Field, which is a shame.
Readers, it’s your turn!
What sweet romance series have you enjoyed binge-reading? I’d love to hear about them.
