There is more hunger for love and appreciation in the world than for bread. Mother Teresa
When I read this quote from Mother Teresa, it struck me as appropriate for the novels I’ve read recently. Lots of lonely people: Valentina & Tatiana in Permafrost are misfits in society; Darksight‘s Jenson’s obsession has kept him from forgiving himself for his wife’s death; Florie, the murder victim in The Scent of Murder, has been an outsider in society. I also thought of Amy in The Lonely Witness, which I read a few weeks ago. So many people in this world need love and appreciation. They hunger for it, as Mother Teresa wisely said.
Maybe you’re one of these people. If so, please know that there are others in this world who DO care. It might be hard–correction, it will be hard–to reach out, but it’s worth the effort.
Maybe you’re well-connected in life. If so, consider yourself blessed and consider how you can reach out to others in need of love. If you do, I’d love to hear about it!
