Book cover of Happy Hour by Tony Knighton

Happy Hour and Other Philadelphia Cruelties by Tony Knighton

Publisher: Crime Wave Press

Release Date: 2015

“A young grifter steals an overcoat. As he discovers forty-thousand dollars in its inside pocket, the coat’s owners come after him.

The action never stops as his pursuers seem to be both ahead and behind him at all times, killing and destroying everything in their wake to catch up with their money and the young thief.

Happy Hour is as breathless as writing can be. Knighton’s debut novella is accompanied by a selection of short stories that can run with the best of American

Noir literature. It’s cold out there, folks.” (from Crime Wave Press site)

“I don’t like crime fiction where the protagonist is Superman… bullet wounds through the chest, there really isn’t going to be any blood, just what leaks.” – Tony Knighton
Just watch this terrific commercial on Vimeo where Tony describes his work. If you like dark and gritty crime fiction, this novella sounds like something to add to your to-be-read list. I haven’t had a chance to read it, but it sounds great. Reviews on Amazon raved: “Infused with sardonic humor” and “brutally authentic,” with a “strong sense of setting,” and compared his work to David Goodis.

4.7 out of 5 star average. I think readers liked it.

It’s only $0.99 on Amazon until Friday, November 22nd, 2019. Sounds like a great deal!

P.S.: One of the accompanying short stories, “The Gift”, is Christmas-themed, so you can use this as your excuse to buy the book. It’s a present for someone on your list . . . you! After all, you’ve been good this year.
